API
We are RESTful.
In simple terms, you can get any page in xml by simply adding .xml in front of the URL. For example:
-
If you are viewing details of an SPhred Item on
http://www.sphred.com/categories/2-Site-ReLaunched/websites/121-Tiinker
then simply change it to
http://www.sphred.com/categories/2-Site-ReLaunched/websites/121-Tiinker.xml - If you are on home page then change it to http://www.sphred.com/websites.xml
-
If you are viewing a category like New Launches here
http://www.sphred.com/categories/1-New-Launches/websites
then change it to
http://www.sphred.comd/categories/1-New-Launches/websites.xml -
Similarly you can convert almost any page(such comments, votes, user connections, etc.) on SPhred to XML format and feel free to do whatever you like.
However, content attribution would be great and we would definitely like to know if you are doing something cool using SPhred data.
Do you need to get an API key?
No, not at the moment because we don't have a solid reason for that. Most of the time web apps use API keys to aggregate statistics and we don't have any intentions to do that at the moment.
