OpenSocial

Google has launched opensocial netowrking platform which will allow us developers to create applications that will work on any social network that joins Google’s network.

Google website says ''There are many websites implementing OpenSocial, including Engage.com, Friendster, hi5, Hyves, imeem, LinkedIn, MySpace, Ning, Oracle, orkut, Plaxo, Salesforce.com, Six Apart, Tianji, Viadeo, and XING.'' Google has open its APIs to support these social networks.

OpenSocial is built on Google's existing Google Gadget Technology.

The best thing about OpenSocial is it doesn't asks developers to learn a new markup language unlike Facebook which is very limiting.

So what a developer needs to develop an OpenSocial app? Simply html and javascript!

Now we will have lot more apportunity to spread our works to different social networks without adding a lot of complexity or learning a new markup language.
